Alexander Schellow talks about NERAKI | A Children’s Workshop

Neraki_AS and kids

I always really enjoyed to work with children in the frame of my projects and did that where- and whenever I could. The approaches were very different, but I can say that each of those adventures in its specific way gave me a great impulse in return, such as in a good sense: a disturbance.  Among so many things to learn from those little workshop-participants, for me, one of the most intriguing is that the expectation of somebody to have an expectation with young children is still something relatively easy to undermine. And then, if that (one can call it also a certain trust in the own potential of imagination) works as a group-dynamic, very quickly, amazing, surprising and in the best sense “unexpected” things can happen. Some of those situations are among the most beautiful experiences that I’ve had in and with my professional work.

……………….

Actually it was and still is a real joy to collaborate with Valya. There is something very easy and trustful in the discussions and work-processes, that was there from the very first meeting and continues, and that – to that extent, as a rare thing, in fact – I appreciate very much.  It is fun AND productive – from my side, I can definitely say that!

……………….

I hope that a lot of things will happen that I couldn’t have even hoped for – knowing not at all what it will be!
And of course: let’s hope that we all, the children, the teachers, the MELDERs and other temporary participants, Valya, me… will have a great time together and manage to blur our mental, conceptual, ideological and other borders at least a bit…,to loose some orientation basically. That would be a great success, right? 🙂
